Our
Story
The
E.J. Cottrell Memorial Library was founded
in
1921. it was named after Edward Jay Cottrell,
a
young man of the community who made the
sacrifice
in 1918 during World War I.
During
the year 1969, the E. J. Cottrell Memorial Library became a member
of the Southern Tier Library System, STLS, as it is commonly called.
On
May 15, 1971, The library moved from a room behind the Atlanta
National Bank Building
to
rooms on Main Street, once occupied by the
post
office and by an insurance business. In 1991, A new childrens It
provides room for meetings, tables for studying, computers,
television, and VCR.
A
new room was built in 2000 for computers,
books,
TV, reading lounge with current magazines and newspapers complete
with a coffee bar.
A
five-member Board of Trustees oversees the
operation,
planning and policy of the library.
The
library is staffed with Library Director
